Yesterday the news channels played disturbing visuals of a young "mentally challenged" tamil guy being buldgeoned to death by the sri-lankan cops. After numerous pleadings also the cops showed no remorse and the guy finally drowned in the sea waters in front of thousands of spectators .His only mistake being he pelted stones at a bus.
A similar incident took place in assam, the only difference being that the victim was a animal(a wild bear). The visuals were so disturbing that I felt like pelting stones at my own Tv screen hoping that one of those might luckily hit those "beasts in the form of humans" .The fault of the animal being ,it had attacked a native resident.Hundreds of people armed with lathis chased the poor animal into an open field and then hit it untill the animals soul finally left its body.Such growing intolerance is a threat to the very existance of humans itself.
If we lose the basic traits "that differentiate us from other animals" then aren't we eligible to be called devils?.Devil(another 5 letter word) sounds more interesting, hip hop and trendy than its evolved form, the Human. But then the fact that there is a devil in each one of us(If we analyse closely), waiting for the right moment to unmask itself , is further more disturbing. But then the sole purpose of being born as humans is not to transcend into a devil after all ,isn't it?
"Mystic musings " by shri.Jaggi vasudev and "An autobiography of a yogi" by Yogananda Paramhamsa are the two books which have impressed me the most during the past few months. Both can be regarded as some of the finest works ever by the learned men of India. They take the readers to another dimension altogether. After reading them I realised that there exists an unbelievable possibility in every human being to elevate himself/herself to higher dimensions of consiousness.Every one of us has the possibility to be a Buddha, Jesus or a lord krishna(provided we work towards it).The books give a deep insight into things which we normally are ignorant about. The existance of soul and the purpose of life are so very beautifully put in words by the great saints. After reading the books I realised that "Birth has a purpose and so does death".Hope the souls of the poor creatures who were buldgeoned to death in the most brutal manner possible take form in a new body and return "Not with vengeance but for spreading tolerance and peace in the hearts of the devils".The world is already suffering from unattended growth of the human population,we just cannot afford to add to the woes by gifting the devils within us a free world of their own.
